Labor Day

Tomorrow is a holiday – Labor Day.  Hope you all get a “day off” – though sometimes Labor Day ends up being a day of LABOR (at least for ME).  Right now I am determined to consign some of my kids’ outgrown clothes that have been accumulating for YEARS (well, for at least 2-3 years based on the sizes of clothes I am finding stacked in my garage!!).

This is the mess I am sorting through tonight.  You can’t even begin to fathom the messy-ness of it all.  Clothes to consign, clothes to donate, clothes to give away…
How do YOU deal with outgrown kids’ clothes??  Get rid of them right away?  Donate?  Box them up?  Sort and store??!
Same with all these books (above)… I’m attempting to sell some of them on amazon and other places.  Otherwise, they WILL be given to Goodwill.  We are overrun by books at our house.  While books are TERRIFIC – if I wanted to live among stacks of books, I’d move into a library.
:::sorry about the wrong way pics – I still don’t know how to fix them ::::
Lastly, above is my new OFFICE CHAIR!! (and our cat Ella, who finds perching on top of the box akin to something Snoopy feels when he is playing a vulture perching on top of a cliff!!)
Despite all these plans to labor on Labor Day, right now, this very minute is my absolute FAVORITE part of this holiday weekend.  It is Sunday night, after midnight.  I’m about to go to bed.  Everyone else has been sleeping for quite a while.
My husband invited me to watch a movie with him tonight, but by the time I got Miriam to bed, he was fast asleep on the couch by 8:45 p.m.  He’s still there.
So, no movie for me – but I’m ok with that.  I know Dan will get up early tomorrow morning, possibly make breakfast.  He’ll listen for Miriam and after I feed her, he’ll play with her a while and get her ready for the day.
Then he said he’d take the kids off to browse a grocery store or thrift shop – and I’ll have a few hours of more BLISSFUL quiet time, alone at home.
Right now, this very minute, I can still anticipate all that – and it makes me SO happy 🙂
Then on Tuesday we’ll delve back into our routines where no one is pampered and everyone has schedules and to-do’s and obligations and responsibilties.  And reality will settle back in – but the memory of the restful holiday morning will (hopefully) linger just a little while!

Hope you're having a great day ~For me, I have to turn the pics while I'm in the Pictures File… If that makes sense? If I'm uploading them to Blogger, they come in however they appear in the Pictures File. Blah. That doesn't even make sense to me. Must be the WHITE flour cookie I sampled :p (Girls are baking AGAIN to sell at the antique mall today)

  3. Love all the pictures. lolIf you can't sell the Women's Devotional Bible-I'll take it. I will even pay for the shipping. 🙂
