One Week Update:

Actually Daniel’s life has been a little more exciting than Broken Leg Guy’s!  Daniel has been able to move from the couch to the bed to the bathroom via his walker.  He’s been getting his meds, some yummy food (most not cooked by me recently!), and lots of beverages to stay hydrated.  There are sponge baths to look forward to and “pin care” where we clean around each rod that is in his leg and wrap them with gauze again.

Thanks to the St. Louis Cardinals, there will be LOTS MORE baseball games to watch as they attempt to win World Series #12 in 2012!!  And they might just do it!

For the first time in over 20 years, he has has unlimited time to read and watch favorite old TV shows we have on DVD or VHS.  If it weren’t for the pain and the seriousness of the situation, you might actually call this time a little hiatus from every day life.

We’ve been counting our blessings and praying about our future.  We’ve been talking about and applying for various jobs – and Daniel actually has another phone interview on Tuesday; however, it might not be a job he can even take based on the location and its salary (it is more of an entry level position).  Meanwhile, I’m brushing up my resume’ and considering working for a short while – part time – just until Dan gets a job.  He could definitely handle home school, as a former teacher/school administrator – and would probably do a better job anyway!

God continues to provide for our needs.  He has given us some amazing friends who have supported us and done so much for us lately.  “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”  And so despite the bleakness of this situation, the impending second surgery on October 18th, and the uncertainty of the future, we can honestly say GOD IS GOOD.

Sometimes things happen to slow us down, even if they’re things that we would rather do without. I’m glad you are both counting your blessings through this difficult period 🙂 Praying for a quick recovery for your husband!

God has promised us that if we just look unto him, he will provide for all our needs. You have me as a prayer warrior here in New Hampshire! Hugs!
